2024 season wrap-up: Hunter Feduccia’s highlights and lowlights

Hunter Feduccia, the Dodgers’ 12th-round draft choice in 2018 out of Louisiana State University, made his MLB debut on July 31 and appeared in five games for the Dodgers during the 2024 regular season.

Feduccia had a solid albeit sporadic season in the Dodgers organization, mostly playing at the Triple-A level with Oklahoma City. After he made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in the summer, he didn’t play again at the major-league level until August 25 when he was recalled from OKC. His third, and final stint with the L.A. Dodgers in 2024, was on September 17.

Feduccia started his pro career in 2018 with the Rookie level Ogden Raptors. He was promoted after just three games to the Low-A Great Lakes Loons. In 34 games between the two teams, he batted .287/.392/.343/.735 with six doubles, 10 RBI, and 18 walks in 131 plate appearances.

In 2019, Feduccia started the season in Great Lakes and was promoted to the then High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. In a combined 72 games with both clubs, the backstop hit .275/.380/.408/.787 with four home runs, 43 RBI, and 45 walks in 305 plate appearances.

Feduccia spent the entire 2021 season with the Double-A Tulsa Drillers. He played in 86 games and hit .254/.343/.398 with 10 home runs, 45 RBI, and 39 walks.

Feduccia continued to consistently progress up the Dodgers’ organization. In 2022, he started the season in Double-A, and then was promoted to the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers. In 83 games he hit .238/.331/.466 with 15 home runs, 51 RBI, and 41 walks.

In 2023, Feduccia played in 90 games with the OKC Dodgers and hit .279/.387/.451/.838 with 11 home runs, 57 RBI, and 58 walks in 380 plate appearances.

Prior to his callup to the Dodgers in 2024, Feduccia played in 64 games for OKC. The 27-year old catcher entered the game as a pinch hitter in his major league debut against the San Diego Padres on July 31. He went 0 for 1.

The Dodgers recalled catcher Hunter Feduccia and placed Austin Barnes on the injured list with a fractured left big toe on Sept 16.

Feduccia finally got a brief taste of the majors in 2024. He only played in five games, but he did collect four base hits and his first RBI in 12 at-bats with the Dodgers. His late-season call-up to the MLB roster showed potential with a limited sample size.

Feduccia has now been in the Dodgers’ system for six seasons, batting .267 with 46 homers and 256 RBI in 447 minor league games.

Feduccia has steadily progressed and performed in the minors, but the backstop’s future role within the Dodgers system is uncertain. The Dodgers already have Will Smith who is locked in through 2033, top prospect Dalton Rushing, Diego Cartaya, and Austin Barnes. The Dodgers exercised their 2025 option on catcher Barnes in November.
