Class Act: Patrick Mahomes Shows Respect to Young QB After Matchup
The Kansas City Chiefs escaped Week 12 with a tight, 30-27, win against the Carolina Panthers after kicker Spencer Schrader nailed a 31-yard field goal as time expired.
After the Chiefs went into the second half with a 20-9 lead, the Panthers stormed back in the second half, scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter alone. A massive reason for their comeback was quarterback Bryce Young, who finished the game with 283 total yards, a touchdown and no interceptions.
After being benched earlier in the season, Young has been extremely consistent in recent weeks since coming back, as the Panthers are 2-1 in their last three games. Patrick Mahomes took notice, giving props to the young quarterback after the game.
“I thought he played his tail off, man,” Mahomes said. “He throws a really good football… It’s been cool to see him bounce back these last few weeks and play some great football because I know he has it because I’ve seen it for a long time. He gave us a scare today, man, because he played his tail off.”
Although Young had a great performance, Mahomes had an even better one, finishing with 329 total yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Although Young did have a great game, the matchup was a lot closer than many Chiefs fans, or players, expected. Kansas City will now have a short week before they host the Las Vegas Raiders on Black Friday to try and improve to 11-1.
