Breaking: Aaron Rodgers’ Uncertain Response Raises Questions About His NFL Future
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers appeared to shoot down speculation that he’ll be finding a new team next year, stressing to reporters this week that he plans to remain in New York for the 2025 season.
One reporter believes Rodgers may have been a bit coy on his real plans, however.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk noted that Rodgers stressed it was New York that he saw in his future, not the Jets specifically. Florio wrote that Rodgers may actually have his eyes on the other team sharing a stadium with the Jets.
Florio pointed out that Rodgers has been intentionally vague in the past, especially when he told reporters he was “immunized” due to a homeopathic treatment regimen, though was not actually vaccinated. Rodgers later said he regretted the word choice.
Florio raised the idea that Rodgers may have been intentional this week when speaking about his plans for 2025.
“So was it a coincidence, or was he deliberately vague . . . again? Could he be referring to the Giants in addition to the Jets?” Florio wrote.
Florio went on to suggest that Rodgers may already have a plan in place to team up with a legendary NFL coach who could be searching for a new job in 2025.
“Here’s why it’s not crazy,” Florio wrote. “Some in league circles already have connected the dots from Rodgers to Bill Belichick. If they were to partner up, it would need to happen in a place that has the flexibility to sign Rodgers. The Giants would be one of those places. And the Giants are in ‘New York.’ ”
Regardless of his plans for 2025, the Jets may be ready to move on from Rodgers after two disappointing seasons. The team has fired its head coach and general manager within the span of a few weeks, with no clarity on whether the next regime has plans to keep him on as the starting quarterback.
