Former NFL Star Sparks Controversy: Jalen Hurt Accused of Benefitting from “Pretty Privilege”
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been under scrutiny for not getting the passing attack going much this season, but he was able to shut haters up in Week 15’s 27-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After Hurts threw for 290 passing yards and two touchdowns in the victory, he kicked off his post-game press conference with a smart remark: “So, that’s what you wanted to see, huh?”
Many Eagles and NFL fans loved the sass from Hurts.
However, former NFL cornerback-turned ESPN analyst Dominque Foxworth believes Hurts didn’t get enough heat for coming at the media like that.
“Jalen Hurts is benefitting from pretty privilege. Because he got up at the press conference after the game, and he acted like he was Josh Allen,” Foxworth said on ESPN’s ‘Get Up‘. “Look at this man with his Kangol looking like Nino Brown… with three thousand million trillion dollars worth of diamonds on his neck, and he acting like he just went for 400 yards for three weeks in a row. Man, you had one good week passing. And everyone forgets it when he starts batting his eyes at you.”
What Foxworth forgot to mention (or maybe he didn’t do his homework) is that Hurts has thrown for 2,892 passing yards and 18 touchdown passes to just five interceptions for a QB rating of 69.2% so far this season. That puts him ranked ninth in the league among all quarterbacks heading into Week 16.
Not to mention that Hurts has also led the Eagles (12-2) to 10 straight wins.
So yes, Hurts really is good enough to say whatever he wants to his fans and the media after being under a microscope all season.
