Raiders’ GM Tom Telesco Under Fire: Antonio Pierce’s Damning Comments Spark Heated Controversy
On Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders won their third game of the season, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars by a score of 19-14 in a win that may have upset Raiders fans.
While winning is usually a good thing in the NFL, Raiders fans were unhappy with the victory, due to the way it will impact the team’s draft spot. The Raiders have been searching for a franchise quarterback since Derek Carr departed, and they appeared to have a clear path to a top-two pick.
Sunday’s Week 16 win caused the team to fall out of the top five in the order for the 2025 NFL draft.
With the strong reaction from fans who are worried about draft position, head coach Antonio Piece was asked by a reporter in his post-game press conference what his response to the fans is, to which he said, “Talk to Tom Telesco.”
Pierce seemed to insinuate that the general manager of the team, Tom Telesco, is the one responsible for why the Raider Nation wants the team to tank for a good draft pick. Pierce has consistently told the media that he wants to win every game despite the team’s record, and it looks like that’s what he is doing here.
Telesco, who is in his first year as the team’s general manager, is already on the hot seat because of Las Vegas’ struggles this season. From not getting a quarterback for the future, to trading away their former superstar Davante Adams, it has been a rough go for the new general manager in 2024.
Both Pierce and Telesco are on the hot seat this offseason, and it seems like they have their differences.
