Jorginho says Erling Haaland keeps doing one thing that makes Arsenal players ‘laugh’

Arsenal have a huge game coming up against Manchester City in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s side picked up a very impressive 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby on Sunday, and that will give the Gunners a big boost.

Up next is a Champions League clash against Atalanta in Italy, and even though all the focus is on that game, it’s hard to ignore what’s in store after that.

Arsenal face Manchester City away from home on Sunday, and that will be a massive game for the two Premier League title contenders.

Jorginho shares how Arsenal players react when Erling Haaland scores

Manchester City star Erling Haaland is the best striker in world football.

The Norway international has played a huge part in helping City win trophies in each of the last two seasons, and he has had a tremendous start to this campaign as well.

Haaland has scored nine goals in four Premier League games this season. That includes two hat-tricks, which is an outrageous return.

The Manchester City number nine will want to score against Arsenal too on Sunday, and he is a player who must be contained.

Jorginho was asked about Haaland’s terrifying goalscoring form ahead of the game at the Etihad, and the Arsenal midfielder revealed that he and his teammates can’t help but laugh every time they hear that he has scored again because it’s been happening every week.

The Italian admitted that he watches all the Premier League games, including City’s, but nothing Pep Guardiola’s men do will affect the Gunners.

Jorginho told NBC Sports: “Well, Erling scoring again is starting to make us laugh.

“We look because we look at all the games – we love football, we love the Premier League, so we watch all the games to be fair. And we watch them (City) as well, which is normal.

“But, again, it doesn’t get into our heads. We need to focus on us and that’s what we are trying to do.”

Erling Haaland’s record against Arsenal

Haaland is a nightmare for most teams to defend against, but Arsenal have done fairly well over the last two years.

The Norwegian has played six times for Manchester City against the Gunners, and he has only scored two goals – one of them came when Rob Holding started at the back.

Haaland has scored once when he has come up against William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes – that came in February 2023.

However, in each of the last three meetings between Arsenal and Manchester City, Haaland hasn’t had a sniff of goal – he has been locked up by Saliba and Gabriel without too much trouble.

Arsenal fans will be hoping for a repeat of that at the Etihad on Sunday.
