Breaking: Sirianni Cracks Coaching Triple Crown: Joins Belichick, Reid as Only Coaches to Reach Historic Benchmark
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni started the 2024 season in the hot seat, but those talks have since simmered down after he finished the regular season with a 14-3 record.
Sirianni becomes just the third NFL head coach in history to win 14 or more regular season games in multiple seasons since 2000, joining only Andy Reid and Bill Belichick to reach the historic benchmark.
He is also the only head coach in Eagles franchise history to do so.
The last time the Eagles won 14 games was in 2022 and then they went on to play the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
“It’s cool. It’s cool,” Sirianni said on Sunday after winning his 14th game this season. “Again, that takes contributions from everybody. We always talk about doing special things, and you have special things to do during the regular season and then the postseason. Winning the division, tying a franchise record, that’s cool.”
Sirianni now has a 48-20 overall regular season record in four seasons with the Birds, which gives him the No. 1 winning percentage among current NFL head coaches.
This season is a huge rebound from last year’s after Sirianni dropped a 10-0 start, and it deserves to be recognized. However, he and the Eagles’ work is far from over.
The Birds enter the playoffs’ Wild Card Weekend as the No. 2 seed and will face the Green Bay Packers this Sunday.
“A lot of good teams here,” Sirianni said about the NFL playoffs before their opponent was officially announced. “We’ll take one game at a time. I believe it’s Green Bay right now, and we will settle our sights on them. Really good football team. Coached really well. We’re not really worried about anything else other than them.”
