Steelers Salvation? Underdog Pittsburgh Urged to Make Blockbuster Trade for Aaron Rodgers

The reeling Steelers – losers of four straight – will count heavily on Russell Wilson and maybe lightly on Justin Fields in Saturday’s Wild Card Game at the Baltimore Ravens. A loss that would extending their playoff-win drought to nine years could force major changes.

In one of the more drastic scenarios that could play out, Aaron Rodgers could leave the New York Jets in 2025 and play quarterback for the new-look Steelers.
Appearing on Let’s Go! on SiriusXM, longtime NFL insider Peter King suggested that Rodgers could be an off-season target for the Steelers. He reasoned that the Steelers are in a win-now mode due to all of the talent they have on defense and believes Rodgers would keep them more competitive with the likes of the Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals and their elite quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.
“I think we have seen Russell Wilson hit a wall and if I were the Pittsburgh Steelers I would want to come in and get a quarterback who could make me competitive with Baltimore and Cincinnati,” King said. “And that guy to me would be Aaron Rodgers.”
Rodgers, 41, has reportedly forced his way out of New York favor with off-field antics including skipping the team’s minicamp to vacation in Egypt and an on-field season that was healthy but mediocre as the Jets stumbled to 5-12.
