The Pelicans’ struggles this season—sitting at a league-worst 8-32—make it increasingly likely they’ll entertain offers for role players like Green. With New Orleans far out of playoff contention, the opportunity to shed salary or acquire future assets could align with their priorities.

Sunday’s 112-101 loss to the Denver Nuggets showcased some of the Mavericks’ weaknesses. After building a 19-point lead, Dallas was outscored 33-12 in the fourth quarter, as rebounding issues and a lack of bench production allowed Denver to surge ahead.

“We got tired,” Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said after the game. “The ball stuck a little bit, and when you put that much energy into both ends, it’s tough.”

Klay Thompson led Dallas with 25 points, but the bench struggled, contributing 18 points. The Mavericks also lost the rebounding battle 50-44, with Denver capitalizing on second-chance opportunities.

With the trade deadline approaching, Dallas needs to improve its supporting cast. Green’s defensive skills and ability to provide energy off the bench would address some of the team’s most pressing concerns.
