Pete Carroll’s Raiders Revolution Begins: Familiar Faces from Seahawks’ Super Bowl Win to Join the Fray
Now that the Las Vegas Raiders’ new head coach and general manager have been introduced to everyone, and they have talked to the media, it’s time for them to find their staff for the 2025 season. Because we know how Pete Carroll is, and the guys he likes from his past staff, we kind of know what direction he will go in this offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator search, along with the position coaches under those.
We have already talked about possibly Patrick Graham coming back as defensive coordinator, or even Rob Leonard, the defensive line coach, being interviewed for the defensive coordinator position. But, we don’t really have anything to work with yet in terms of the offensive coordinator position.
I have thrown out names like Jake Peetz, the Seattle Seahawks passing game coordinator, or even Carroll’s son, who is the pass game coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. We really haven’t been able to piece anything else together other than former staff members.
Raiders to interview Darrell Bevell
On Tuesday, we learned that the Raiders are set to interview former Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, the offensive coordinator Carroll had on staff when the Seahawks won the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos, and went to another one against the New England Patriots. However, his play-calling in Super Bowl XLIX was heavily criticized after an interception led to a loss.
We all know the play — Russell Wilson throwing an interception on the goalline rather than giving the ball to Marshawn Lynch.
He started his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers in 2000, eventually becoming their quarterbacks coach. From 2006 to 2010, he was the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, where he helped develop stars like Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin. After leaving Seattle in 2018, he took a year off before joining the Detroit Lions in 2019. He briefly served as interim head coach for the Lions in 2020, finishing with a 1-4 record.
Bevell then moved to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021 as offensive coordinator, again taking over as interim head coach after Urban Meyer’s dismissal, ending with a 1-3 record. Since 2022, he has been with the Miami Dolphins, working as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator, focusing on Tua Tagovailoa’s development.
