The Jets Just Changed the Game: 2025 Mock Draft Sees Team Make Historic Pick for First Time in 17 Years
This is going to be an interesting offseason for the New York Jets, who are beginning a new era under head coach Aaron Glenn. It’s also uncertain if quarterback Aaron Rodgers will retain under certain. For the sake of this argument, we are going to assume that Rodgers returns for one more season.
In this particular 7-round 2025 NFL mock draft, the aim was to put more firepower around Rodgers, and strengthen the trenches on both sides. With this haul, a playoff run in 2025.
Round 1, Pick 7: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
The Jets haven’t drafted a tight end in the first round since the 2008 NFL Draft when they selected Purdue’s Dustin Keller. While the results historically haven’t been stellar at the position, Warren is the type of talent that can change those fortunes. You just don’t see tight ends this size move as well as Warren does.
Round 2, Pick 42: Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota
There’s a chance that Ersery finds a spot in the first round, but he lasted until the second in this scenario. Ersery is a massive blocker who excels in the run game. Pass protection can be a bit wonky at times, which might move him inside eventually.
Round 3, Pick 92: Jared Ivey, EDGE, Ole Miss
Will McDonald had a bit of a breakout season, but the Haason Reddick trade ended up being a major bust. Ivey is a physical defensive end who can reduce down to play multiple fronts as well. He presents an extremely high floor.
Round 4, Pick 109: Tai Felton, WR, Maryland
Outside of Garrett Wilson, the Jets need to get more dynamic at wide receiver. Felton lacks play strength but the kid is loose, and can run. He should, at worst, add a nice vertical element to the offense.
Round 5, Pick 146: Lathas Ransom, S, Ohio State
After battling injuries most of his career, Ransom put together a mostly healthy season in 2024. He has outstanding instincts, which make up for his average athleticism. Ransom is consistently around the football to make his physical presence felt.
Round 5, Pick 157: Jamaree Caldwell, DT, Oregon
While playing with Derrick Harmon and Jordan Burch, Caldwell did go under the radar a bit during his one year with Oregon. At 342 pounds, Caldwell is a really nice mover who packs a punch at the point of attack. He should be able to carve out a niche on early running downs.
Round 6, Pick 188: John Williams, OT, Cincinnati
The offensive line for the Jets needs to be improved this offseason, and continuing to add more talented bodies in that room is important. From a technical perspective, Williams is a mess. He has the foot quickness and frame, however, to develop.
Round 6, Pick 210: Howard Cross III, DT, Notre Dame
If not for the constant injuries, Cross would have probably gone off the board a couple of rounds earlier. He isn’t very big at just about 288 pounds, but Cross has a dynamite first step and is flexible. Getting him fully healthy is the main priority.
