Cross Town Shocker! Former Dodgers Star Reliever Predicted to Join Rivals Angels
It’s scary to think about all the talent the Los Angeles Dodgers have had on their roster over the past decade.
Not only do the Dodgers have the best team in Major League Baseball right now, but they’ve allowed some of the best players in baseball to walk in recent years.
That just goes to show how aggressive the front office has been.
Whether that’s because of the money they spend or internal development, the Dodgers are always looking to improve.
Back in 2022, Los Angeles had the opportunity to watch Craig Kimbrel, who many consider one of the best relievers of all time.
However, the right-hander didn’t necessarily throw the baseball well during his time with the Dodgers, posting a 3.75 ERA in 60.0 innings.
He’s back on the market again at 36 years old, and the past few years haven’t gone as planned.
Kimbrel is coming off a 5.33 ERA showing for the Baltimore Orioles, who released him late in the campaign.
Still, because of who he is, he should find a home.
Chad Jennings of The Athletic predicted that to be with the Los Angeles Angels.
“The Angels are in wing-and-a-prayer territory, anyway. They need a ton of things to go right, and those things range from Mike Trout’s health to Kyle Hendricks’ sinker… It’s a lot. So, why not add one more wild card? Kimbrel was an All-Star in 2023 and he saved 23 games last season, but he also pitched so poorly that the Orioles released him in September,” Jennings wrote.
The Angels haven’t shown over the past decade that they’re in a position to win, but they have some interesting pieces.
Signing the veteran would add to that, but there’s a warranted risk in giving Kimbrel a chance.
