Andre was Wolves’ penultimate signing of the summer transfer window, and it has been an impressive start from the Brazilian.

Wolves have obviously struggled as a collective, taking just one point from their first seven games in the Premier League.

It’s all doom and gloom at the moment, with fans debating who is responsible for the current mess.

But the season has not been completely without any positives.

On September 1, Wolves completed a move for the highly rated midfielder Andre, paying £21 million to Brazilian club Fluminense.

He has yet to be on the winning side, but Andre can hold his head for his performances.

Some fans found it slightly surprising that Wolves signed Andre.

The need for a new central defender was clear, after the earlier sale of Max Kilman to West Ham United.

Wolves did look at new centre-backs, but nothing materialised and a decision was then made to sign Andre, with an expert recently suggesting to Molineux News that he can operate as a centre-back if needs be.

Andre enjoyed a strong full debut against Newcastle United, and fans were left very impressed by the fact he didn’t waste a single pass in that game.

Andre’s passing has remained very good since, and it has now come to light that he actually currently has the highest pass accuracy of all players in the Premier League so far in 2024/25.

As per The Other 14, Andre has attempted 118 passes and completed 113 of them, giving him a success rate of 95.8%. This puts him just ahead of Manchester City duo Manuel Akanji and Ilkay Gundogan (95% and 94.9% respectively).

This statistic surely leaves O’Neil red-faced following his decision to take Andre off for Hwang against Brentford on Saturday. Fans were left very unhappy because Andre was having another good game, with his replacement Hwang Hee-chan currently one of Wolves’ most out-of-form players.

It has certainly been a great start for Andre personally, summed up by the fact he won Wolves’ Player of the Month award for September.

Given Wolves’ poor start to the season, it seems logical to say that the club may not be able to hold onto him for long, if things do not turn around. Fans certainly should not get too attached.

Before signing for Wolves, Andre was being tracked by a host of clubs.

It was seen as a major coup for Wolves when they got him, but it’s very possible he could only have a brief stay at Molineux, much like Matheus Nunes.

Arguably, even if Wolves stay up this season, retaining Andre will be a serious challenge.
