Thompson’s Battle Cry! Klay Rallies Warriors with Emotional Message After Mavericks Win
For the third time this season, Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks faced off against the Golden State Warriors. After splitting the previous two matchups, the Mavericks secured an impressive 111-107 victory on Wednesday night, despite several key players being sidelined.
Dallas was led by Kyrie Irving, who scored a game-high 42 points, while Thompson contributed 17 points and knocked down five 3-pointers. The two teams will meet again after the All-Star break, and Thompson made sure to highlight that with a message after the win.
“It feels great to beat your friends.” Thomspon said via Christian Clark of The Athletic. “I know them very well. They would hold that over my head the whole season. So we’ll see them again. But it feels great.
Thompson, now in his 14th NBA season, spent his entire career alongside Warriors superstar Stephen Curry. Curry admitted that, even after more than 50 games, it’s still strange seeing Thompson in another uniform.
“Just got to get over the shock still of seeing him in another jersey,” Curry said. “But after the first game back from the Bay, it’s gotten a little bit more normal.”
Curry and Thompson will go down as one of the greatest duos in NBA history, having cemented themselves as two of the game’s all-time great shooters. Together, they’ve won four championships during their 13 seasons.
The two will face off one more time in the regular season on February 23, which will mark Thompson’s final return to San Francisco this year, unless they meet again in the postseason.
