Arsenal fans all agree Bukayo Saka doesn’t have the ‘problem’ that plagued Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal fans have engaged in a debate concerning two of the club’s most effective attacking players in recent years. 

Bukayo Saka is a talismanic figure for Arsenal.

The Hale End academy graduate is the most productive attacker in Mikel Arteta’s squad, and has been a reliable source of end product for a few seasons now, despite still being just 23 years of age.

So far this season, the England international has already racked up 3 goals and 7 assists in 10 appearances, across all competitions for the Gunners. Saka has been the most creative player in Europe’s major leagues so far this season, picking up where he left off in the previous campaign.

Last season, Saka was able to register 20 goals and 14 assists in 47 outings, across all competitions.

His form has led to comparisons with former Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez. At his best, the Chilean was a devastating force for the Gunners. In his most productive campaign, the 2016/17 season, the former Barcelona forward contributed 30 goals and 18 assists in 51 games, across all competitions.

Despite the extraordinary numbers that Alexis racked up, many Arsenal fans on X rate Saka even more highly than the 35-year-old.

This is largely due to the consistency that Saka has been able to produce.

One said: “He’s more consistent I don’t know about better if that makes sense. Alexis did give us proper game breaking ability.”

Another stated: “Everyone knows that when the ball is likeliest to result in anything meaningful in the final 3rd is when it is with Saka. Same level as Sanchez and Özil. The problem is none of them were as consistent as Saka is.”

One claimed: “Yes, Alexis was way more a do it yourself but Saka just makes everything better and off just pure amount of things he has in his bag he beats Alexis.”

Another added: “Yes, Alexis Sanchez gave 2 things ridiculous end product and big moments (score or assist out of nothing when we needed it). Saka is already there or almost there on those two things, plus he’s effective in all phases of play defense, outlet/holding up play.”

One supporter insisted: ‘I’ll take Bukayo over Alexis any days of the week, twice on Sunday.”

Another chipped in with: “110% because Saka does almost everything the game requires, plus this season he’s built like a Jaguar, the same kind of muscular tenacity we all adored Alexis for having.”

Why Saka is so important to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta

Whilst plenty of Arsenal fans are convinced that Saka has now surpassed Alexis, others will still be of the mind that the latter boasts a greater legacy.

What is clear, tough, is the regard that Saka is held in by Arsenal fans right now. Few would argue that he isn’t club’s most important player, particularly with Martin Odegaard still injured.

It is vital, as far as Arsenal’s goals and ambitions for this season are concerned, that Saka is able to remain fit and firing on all cylinders for the the remainder of the campaign.
