‘Wow’… William Saliba stuns Arsenal fans with ‘world-class’ moment whilst away with France

Arsenal defender William Saliba is now a regular starter for France after some odd treatment at the hands of Didier Deschamps over the past few years.

Saliba played 90 minutes in France’s 4-1 win over Israel last Thursday, a position that has been cemented owing to his impossible-to-ignore Arsenal form.

However, Saliba was criticised by French media for his role in Israel’s goal – a country with notoriously high standards.

Instead of competing against each other for one position, Saliba actually started alongside Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate once again, a duo that might now be set in stone.

That being said, after a so-called ‘disappointing’ performance in that victory, perhaps Saliba’s highlight moment actually came in a recent France training session – that caught attention on X.

William Saliba teaches Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku a lesson in France training

Saliba was filmed going the extra mile in training to slide in and deny Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku.

It was one of those moments when most would just shield Nkunku once he got the ball, but Saliba instead chose to go to ground to steal the ball in typically ‘clean’ fashion.

The replies from Arsenal fans were a mix of worry and excitement in truth, with many impressed but also fearing that Saliba was risking an injury.

Bukayo Saka was already injured playing for England over the break, explaining why fans in N5 are feeling a little sensitive in that regard right now.

One fan wrote: “He should take things easy here, we need him desperately at the Emirates.”

Another simply stated: “Now what if he gets injured…”

Of course, there were also those who were simply impressed by Saliba’s undying intensity, celebrating the defender’s mentality.

One said: “Fortunate to have him. Blessed to keep him” – seemingly in reference to Real Madrid’s interest in Saliba.

Saliba wants to stay at Arsenal despite Madrid’s interest, a big relief for everyone at the Emirates Stadium.

David Raya doing everything he can to become Spain number one

Of course, Saliba isn’t the only top Arsenal star that’s away with their country right now – David Raya is currently making the most of a big opportunity with Spain.

Given Unai Simon is expected to be out with an injury until the end of the year, Raya is currently first-choice for his country.

Raya was superb for Spain against Denmark – a performance that led many to believe that he might eventually displace Simon.

A tough decision for Luis de la Fuente to make, who trusted Simon when Spain won the Euros this summer.

Either way, it’s nice for Arsenal fans to have a bit of good news during the international break, ones that have been ruined by recent injuries.
