Breaking: Paul Pierce Exposes the Real Reason Behind Garnett On-Court Antics

Paul Pierce narrates a crazy story about his former Boston Celtics teammate Kevin Garnett.

After struggling for 14 years of his NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves, things changed for Kevin Garnett when he was traded to the Boston Celtics in 2007.

Garnett had an instant impact on the Celtics as he helped the team win the 2008 NBA Championship, propelled by a DPOY season.

Over the years, fans have heard many crazy trash-talking stories about KG, but Celtics legend Paul Pierce’s story about how the NBA great motivated himself arguably seals the top spot on the list.

Kevin Garnett accused Dirk Nowitzki

In an appearance on the Stoner Sports Network, Pierce narrated how Garnett kept himself motivated against other superstars.

For this particular one, he gave the example of Garnett’s incident with Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki.

“We [were] playing the Dallas Mavericks, KG got Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk Nowitzi’s is on one right now. KG’s guarding him and I mean he’s killing KG and I’m like ‘damn,’” Pierce said.

“So I’m on the wing in the corner and KG’s guarding him at the elbow. Something happened, and KG fouled him. And he got in Dirk’s face and said, ‘You heard that?’

“I said, ‘Ticket, I was right there he didn’t call you _____. He said, ‘Yes, he did, he said it in German! I know it,’” he added.

This was one way to ensure Garnett stays in a mental state where he can essentially hate his opponent. Thus, it will motivate him to play better.

Mavs legend Nowitzki is highly respected on and off the court, and rather than actively engaging in tras talk, Garnett had to invent it to get fired up.

Garnett could return to his former team in a new role

Since retirement, Garnett has remained in touch with basketball as an analyst and a podcast host. He regularly chimes in on the latest developments in the league.

However, according to a recent report, Garnett could return to the Timberwolves in a new role. Yes, the franchise legend is reportedly in talks to join the team’s front office amid a takeover by new owners.

Considering that Garnett’s relationship with the previous ownership was beyond sour, it makes sense that he would wait until the transition is complete.

Despite not bringing an NBA title to Minnesota, KG remains one of the most cherished stars ever to put on a Timberwolves jersey.
