FOXBOROUGH, MA — The New England Patriots will head to the old England for an early kickoff this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium.
Though the product on the field may not be all that interesting for most viewers, it does have potential impacts on this season’s race to the bottom, something that could come into play as the season goes on and fans of struggling teams begin to scout college players and think about draft order.
Both teams sit at 1-5, but the Jaguars appear to be in a much worse situation than the Patriots, with questions about their once generational number one pick at quarterback and rumors beginning to swirl about whether its head coach will make the long flight home with the team.
Still, there are things to watch for on New England’s side, as Drake Maye will be under center for his second career start.
He’ll do so again with a makeshift offensive line and potentially without running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who flashed in his last appearance despite a fumble-laden start to the year.
Stevenson, who’s dealing with a foot injury, was at practice on Friday but is likely to be a game-time decision on Sunday.
Maye himself may actually be dealing with a knee issue. He told media this week, however, that he’s “feeling good” and “ready to go for Sunday.”
