Chiefs’ New Starter Spills the Tea: Reveals Shocking 3-Word Reason for Signing with Kansas City
Jaylon Moore is the newest member of the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line, and he will be looked at as Patrick Mahomes’ blindside protector for 2025.
With Joe Thuney now in Chicago and Kingsley Suamataia and Wanya Morris failing to produce consistently last season, Moore will step into the starting role after signing a two-year, $30 million deal with the AFC champs.
Having been a backup with the San Francisco 49ers and totaling 12 starts in four years, Moore moves to the Chiefs to be part of Andy Reid’s offense to limit the number of times Mahomes hits the dirt.
But out of all the teams after him, why did Moore choose Kansas City?
“I mean probably having a chance to play some football,” Moore said. “Outside of that, I mean it’s a great organization, I know it’s a great team, everything that I’ve heard from the outside, having new teammates that came from the organization, I know it’s top tier, so I’m excited.”
So, the move is seen as a solid one, but not all are content with the choice. NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger called it a “band-aid” move, and in several media mock drafts, the Chiefs select another left tackle to either provide Moore competition or serve as his backup.
Moore’s move, as it stands right now, is unknown, given that he has only had 12 starts in four years. However, playing behind Trent Williams in San Francisco, the hope is that he has picked up some traits from the three-time All-Pro tackle.
Moore is coming to Kansas City with a chip on his shoulder and is looking to show that he can be the starting left tackle and play the position well.
But with only a handful of skins on the wall, until he consistently shows it with real NFL bullets flying, fans and media alike will be skeptical of his abilities.
