The Writing is on the Wall: Luis Robert Jr Depressing Response All But Confirms His White Sox Exit
The Chicago White Sox might be one of the worst teams in baseball history. At least, that’s the type of season they’re coming off of.
But they do have a star. His name is Luis Robert, and he plays centerfield.
And on Wednesday, Robert was asked whether he expected this otherwise-rebuilding team to still have him on its roster come Opening Day 2025.
Robert’s response:
“Honestly, no.”
Robert very well may have been hoping he was right, too.
The White Sox were a horrific 41-121 in 2024. Robert played in 100 of those games, batting .224 with 14 home runs and 23 steals.
The 27-year old is likely approaching the peak of his career, and he has to do it while toiling in a terrible situation that probably doesn’t help him grow as a player, either.
Not that the White Sox can really afford to lose their best player, but he’d probably get a better chance to thrive elsewhere.
