Breaking: Rams’ Coach Sean McVay Dismisses Cooper Kupp Trade Rumours
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay addressed the trade rumors regarding his star wide receiver Cooper Kupp after the Rams’ Thursday night win over the Minnesota Vikings.
“Teams reached out. Some of the things that I’ve seen out there, they’re just not true,” McVay told reporters. I’m really glad to have Cooper Kupp back with us and I expect it to stay that way.”
Sean McVay Confirms Cooper Kupp Isn’t Going Anywhere
Though McVay did acknowledge that teams across the league did inquire about the Rams’ Super Bowl MVP, he was also quick to note that the credibility of the rumors earlier this week were inaccurate. Nonetheless, McVay left no room for doubt regarding what the future holds for Kupp and the Rams.
Kupp returned back to action on Thursday night for the first time since injuring his ankle in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals and caught five passes for 51 yards and a touchdown.
The All-Pro receiver has been the perfect target for quarterback Matthew Stafford but has struggled to remain healthy.
Since 2022, Kupp has missed a total of 16 games — including four games this season. But, when healthy, the dynamic inside-out receiver is a game-changer for the Rams’ offense.
The last time that McVay and the Rams utilized a healthy Kupp was the year they went on to win the Super Bowl. That season, Kupp exploded for 1,947 yards on 191 targets, and 145 catches, and hauled in 16 touchdowns, making him the fourth player in the Super Bowl era to become a triple-crown winner, and the first since Steve Smith Sr. did it in 2005.
For the Rams to get back into title contention, keeping the core that allowed them to reach and win a Super Bowl should go without saying.
