Breaking: Cowboys’ Trevon Diggs Get Heated With Reporter Over…
The Cowboys suffered a frustrating loss to the 49ers on ‘Sunday Night Football’ despite holding San Francisco to only six points in the first half.
As the 49ers’ offense started rolling in the third quarter, you could tell that the frustrations started mounting for the Cowboys’ defense. Local TV anchor Mike Leslie, who works for WFAA in Dallas, criticized cornerback Trevon Diggs on Twitter for his actions during a big George Kittle reception — and it didn’t go unnoticed by the defensive back.
After the game, the media were waiting to talk to the players, and Diggs abruptly came out of the visiting locker room and went right up to Leslie, scolding him for his tweet. Here’s what happened.
Trevon Diggs confronts Cowboys reporter after 49ers loss
Leslie doesn’t mention anything directly in the tweet about Diggs’ lack of effort, but it is certainly implied. Clearly, Diggs picked up on the tone and is angery that Leslie is questioning him for the whole play. In the cornerback’s defense, he played solid man defense ahead of the reception to Kittle, who he wasn’t guarding. It’s just the middle part of the play that looks bad before Kittle is taclked.
Diggs effectively tells Leslie he can’t play football and doesn’t know the game. Leslie feigns ignorance and says that he doesn’t know ball, so he wants to talk about it. Diggs returns to the scrum to continue lashing out at Leslie before finally walking back to the locker room. Just as the defensive back is about to enter the locker room, Leslie asks to talk more about the play.
Diggs responds with, “Talk about deez nuts.”
Mike Leslie’s Tweet about Trevon Diggs
Here is the tweet that made Diggs so upset. He is playing man coverage on the play, but in the middle of it, he kind of jogs down the field. Leslie refers to this part of the play, prior to Diggs’ tackle.
