Injury Report: Deebo Samuel’s Ribs Injury Could be Costly for…
Deebo Samuel dealt with a handful of injuries this year, and another one popped up on Sunday night during the 49ers’ 30-24 win over the Cowboys.
The 49ers wide receiver left the game vs. the Cowboys in the fourth quarter with a ribs injury, which was a different issue than what battled earlier this week. Samuel spent a few days in the hospital with Pneumonia following last week’s game vs. the Chiefs, and he also recovered from a wrist injury that kept him limited in practice on Thursday and Friday.
San Francisco is already missing Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, and Christian McCaffrey, among others, and running back Jordan Mason left the game earlier after aggravating his sore shoulder. Samuel’s injury meant five of the 49ers’s six best offensive weapons are battling injuries.

The 49ers declared Samuel “questionable” to return to the game vs. Dallas late in the fourth quarter, but he was seen on the sideline without his helmet and didn’t return to the game after that. Since San Francisco had a two-possession lead at the time, the 49ers may have decided to play it safe with their top wide receiver.
After the Cowboys scored to make it a one-score game, Samuel remained on the sidelines. San Francisco went three-and-out in that series, giving the Cowboys a chance to take the lead. However, Dallas turned the ball over on downs, giving San Francisco the win.
Samuel has played in seven of the 49ers’ eight games so far, but last week against Kansas City, he managed just four snaps because of illness. He finished this game with four catches for 71 yards and four carries for 15 yards.
