Breaking: Chiefs Receiver Praise Boosts Raider Hope for…

The Las Vegas Raiders are 2-6 on the year now, and with a very brutal schedule left to go, they could easily win one or two more games this season, or no more games. But, even still, there are positive things to look at. There almost always is. In this case, it’s still the defense, and a few pieces on the offense like Brock Bowers, Alexander Mattison, and Jackson Powers-Johnson.

Some areas of the defense have struggled, yes, like the defensive line that can’t seem to stop the run very well at times. But, they are dealing with, and have all season, very crucial injuries at the defensive tackle spots as well as the defensive end.

One area on the defense that has been stellar for most of the year, though, is the secondary, for both the cornerback room and the safety room. Marcus Epps got hurt against the Carolina Panthers and is out for the season, but Isaiah Pola-Mao stepped in and has been great. Tre’Von Moehrig is playing amazingly in a contract year as he is looking for a big payday at the end of the season from someone.

But young cornerbacks Jack Jones, sometimes, and Jakorian Bennett have been great. Bennett is the best corner on the team right now. Jones has shown great flashes but has taken some plays off, and he’s admitted that as well.

And, they are catching the attention of an All-Pro whom they just played against on the Kansas City Chiefs.

“[They are] going to be two good corners in this league for a while,” Chiefs’ new wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins said after the game when asked about Bennett and Jones.

And, he may be right. If anyone knows when they see a good cornerback, it’s the guy who has pretty much gotten the best one on each team lined up against him his whole career. He has played some great corners, and hearing that from a player like DHop has to feel great for Bennett and Jones.

The Raiders certainly have two players to build around when it comes to their starting cornerbacks. They will have their hands full over the next few games with some of the best wide receivers in the league on both the Cincinnati Bengals and the Miami Dolphins with Ja’Marr Chase and Tyreek Hill.
