After 15 years the New York Yankees were back in the World Series. Unfortunately, they came up short at the final hurdle leading to huge criticism of manager Aaron Boone . Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman though has backed him.
Following repeated heartbreaks in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the Houston Astros, the Yanks finally reached the Fall Classic this year. This led to huge expectations among fans as they hoped for title number 28.
The Yankees were blown away 4-1 in the World Series by the Los Angeles Dodgers. After this loss, several fans slammed Boone for his tactics and decision. However, Cashman has backed him and claimed it is a ‘hard job‘ to do in the postseason.
Following the loss, Boone was left emotional. In the press conference after the Game 5 loss, he stated that he was proud of what the team had achieved but the ending was ‘cruel‘ for him.

Game 1 of the 2024 World Series might go down as one of the greatest games. With the Los Angeles Dodgers trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the tenth, Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam to win the game. This saw a huge reaction from the fans who attacked Aaron Boone for his decisions in this game. Brian Cashman would reflect on this on Tuesday.
Gerrit Cole who was dominating from the pitching mound was removed from the game after just 88 pitches. In the tenth inning with the game in a crucial position, Boone decided to bring in Nestor Cortes, a pitcher who had not pitched in over a month.
Cortes would manage to get Shohei Ohtani on the first pitch through a fly ball. He would later intentionally walk Mookie Betts which loaded up the bases. On the next pitch, Freeman took the game away with his walk-off slam. As per Cashman, Cortes was down there due to some matchup and once again extended his support towards Boone.
