Jets’ Tackling Woes: Jeff Ulbrich Calls Missed Tackles “Criminal”
The New York Jets were beaten up by the Arizona Cardinals offense in Week 10.
The Cards (6-4) cruised to a 31-6 win over the Jets (3-7) on Sunday. As the scoreboard insists, New York’s offense and defense struggled, but sticking with the latter, there was one huge problem.
It sounds simple but the Jets make it look difficult: Tackling.
Even the players and coaches in Gang Green’s locker room have admitted it.
“Defensively, the story was tackling, 100 percent,” Ulbrich said. “An egregious, criminal amount, of missed tackles.”
From a player perspective, linebacker Jamien Sherwood provided the context. While the Jets have only won one game since Ulbrich took over as interim head coach, Sherwood is not pointing fingers.
“I did feel like we were prepared well. On the defensive side of the ball, everything that they did to us in the game, we practiced that. So I personally wouldn’t blame him,” Sherwood said via video conference. “It’s about the 11 players that are on the field at that time.”
While it feels like the season is over for the Jets… it will roll on in New York. Hopefully there are still improvements found in even the simplest ways on the field for the Jets.
