A Joke: Max Muncy Rips MLB’s “Golden At-Bat” Idea
As the MLB offseason rolls on, the league executives continue to work on new ideas and strategies to improve the game. Recently, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred spoke about a new ‘Golden at-bat’ rule and claimed the MLB owners were buzzing regarding this. Los Angeles Dodgers star Max Muncy has criticized this idea.
The basic concept of this ‘Golden at-bat’ rule is that it will allow teams to use their best hitter at one at-bat in a game regardless of where they are in a lineup. This could see Muncy lose his batting spot in a crucial spot to any of his teammates.
Manfred informed about this proposal while speaking with Puck Sports Correspondent John Ourand at “The Variety” podcast. The Commissioner did later add that this idea was just in the conversation-only stage as of now.
Fans though did not seem to like this proposal. On social media, they would berate the top boss and attack him for even considering such an idea.
In an appearance at the Foul Territory podcast, Muncy has spoken about this. The third baseman was asked about his views on this matter. Though he did claim to like the idea, he mentioned that this does not belong in baseball.
First, let me say, I don’t think that belongs in baseball. That being said, the rule is a little bit interesting I’m not gonna lie but I don’t think that belongs in baseball maybe like you know maybe more like the Savannah Bananas type thing. It is an interesting idea I’ll give them that but I don’t want to see it in the big league game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Over the past few years, they have signed several top players and have lined up a star-studded squad. This has led to many criticizing them. Max Muncy would rip these critics during his appearance on the Foul Territory podcast.
In his rant, the two-time MLB All-Star claimed that “everyone else can cry” if they do not like his team’s approach in the offseason. The 34-year-old further added that he is happy if the Dodgers keep on winning by adding superstars to their teams.
Everyone else can cry, I’m happy. I got a second World Series ring, I’d like to get maybe a third or fourth and that’s one of the things where let everyone else cry about it as long as we keep winning it makes me happy and bring in those players gives us a better chance.

Max Muncy didn’t hold back when asked about the Dodgers filling their roster with superstars.
A week ago, the 2024 World Series champions added two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell to the team. The Southpaw joined them on a 5-year, $182 million deal, making him the latest big name to join them.
The team could have another big signing in the upcoming days. The Dodgers are one of the teams who have submitted an official offer for free agent Juan Soto.
As per reports, Soto has started eliminating teams from the free agency contention and could make his decision soon. If he does choose the Dodgers, the team will have more firepower in their offensive lineup.
