Aaron Rodgers Finds New Home: NFC Contender Identified as Top Landing Spot
Aaron Rodgers has yet to settle on a new NFL destination after his tenure with the New York Jets was cut short, but the former league MVP has a strong idea of what he’s seeking a new team.
Rodgers revealed his simple criteria to a reporter from TMZ this week, saying there are only two things he wants from his next team.
“If they want you . . . if they got a good team,” Rodgers said.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio noted that several teams could fit the criteria for Rodgers, depending on how closely Rodgers wants to define a “good team.” Florio noted that there are teams like the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns, both of which struggled last season but have several pieces in place for a turnaround with the right quarterback.
But Florio identified another team already in title contention that could be a stronger candidate — the Los Angeles Rams.
“The Rams could be interested if they trade Matthew Stafford, even if Stafford is four years younger and currently better,” Florio wrote.
Others have joined Florio in suggesting Rodgers could make a coast-to-coast move from New York to Los Angeles. ESPN’s Adam Schefter also believes the Rams could be a good fit for Rodgers next season.
“If the Rams couldn’t get a deal done with Stafford, if they decide to trade him … then Aaron Rodgers, in my mind, would be thrilled with the idea of going to Los Angeles,” Schefter said.
