All-Star Alert: Dodgers Set to Land $180M Superstar in…

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series in 2024, but that does not mean they are done adding to their roster. They could look to upgrade in their starting rotation.

While listing the top 20 free agents and predicting where they would sign, FanSided’s Nick Villano predicted that the Dodgers would sign Baltimore Orioles ace Corbin Burnes.

“The Los Angeles Dodgers are going to get one of the two top pitching options on the market, and Burnes makes a lot of sense for them. He’s a top pitching prospect who can add to the Dodgers staff, which seemed downright broken at the end of last season. Jack Flaherty was not good in the playoffs, but they had no choice but to keep trotting him out,” wrote Villano. “Clayton Kershaw was injured and likely won’t be back. Adding Burnes to Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and possibly Shohei Ohtani makes this the best rotation in baseball, which is what the Dodgers are always going for.”

Burnes has made four consecutive All-Star games and is a free agent for the first time in his career. He won the National League Cy Young Award with the Brewers in 2021. Spotrac projects him to sign a six-year, $180 million deal in free agency.

The Dodgers could lose Jack Flaherty in free agency and may be eyeing an upgrade anyway. They are also expected to go after Japanese phenom Rōki Sasaki.

Burnes had a 2.92 ERA last season, his best since his Cy Young Award season in 2021. He is a California native and could find himself pitching for the Dodgers in 2025.
