Arsenal fans have a lot to say after what Viktor Gyokeres has just done, Edu sent one clear demand
Viktor Gyokeres has captured the imagination of Arsenal fans.
Viktor Gyokeres has been in scintillating form for club and country recently.
The 26-year-old striker scored a brace for Sweden yesterday, helping his nation on their way to a 3-0 win over Estonia in a Nations League clash.
Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak was the other scorer for Sweden, netting past Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein, who is currently plying his trade on loan at Real Valladolid.
This double took Gyokeres’ tally for the season so far to 10 goals and 5 assists for club and country.
In two outings for his country, he has scored 3 times and laid on 2 goals for his teammates. Meanwhile, for Portuguese club Sporting, Gyokeres has already netted 7 times and provided 3 assists in just 5 appearances, across all competitions.
This is no flash in the pan either. Last season, Gyokeres fired Sporting to a title triumph, as he racked up 43 goals and 15 assists in 50 outings, across all competitions.
Arsenal were linked with Gyokeres in the recent summer transfer window, but ultimately never made a formal move to secure his services.
Arsenal fans demand move for Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal fans on X have now made it clear that they want to see sporting director Edu Gaspar bring Gyokeres to the Emirates Stadium.
One said: “This guy will really cook in Arsenal.”
Another stated: “I don’t know why Arsenal didn’t bring this fine striker to the carpet this summer.”
One fan claimed that Gyokeres: “This would av been our own haaland.”
Another supporter warned: “Arteta and Edu are sleeping, laying their beds on Havertz, tsk tsk!”
Why Arsenal need Viktor Gyokeres
Gyokeres has admitted that he’s open to moving clubs in the relatively near future, and he is keen to test himself at the very highest level.
He has played in England before, representing Swansea City and Coventry City in the Championship. Mikel Arteta will appreciate the fact that Gyokeres already has experience of English football, but he is yet to test himself in the Premier League.
Whilst Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus certainly have their qualities as strikers, neither is the most prolific of centre-forwards. Gyokeres would be the clinical goalscorer that the Gunners need to reach the next level. However, he is also a creative force, and has the technical ability to contribute to the build up play in Arteta’s team.
Edu must take heed of what Arsenal fans are asking of him, and the Gunners now need to prepare themselves to launch a major effort to secure Gyokeres’ signature at the next opportunity.
