Bad Optics For Jason Kidd! Lou Williams Slams Coach’s Post-Game Reaction as Bad Look

The atmosphere around the Dallas Mavericks has been sour at best recently and Jason Kidd’s latest actions did not help the feel around the team.

Of course, the sale of Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers has gone down like a led balloon in Dallas with my fans letting their dismay be known.

Many have been seen holding banners calling for the exit of GM Nico Harrison who played a major part in the Doncic deal, while others have been handing in their season tickets in protest.

While off the court things are not looking great for the Mavericks, it’s not getting much better on it and Lou Williams has explained how coach Kidd’s press conference no-show was a ‘bad look’ to the fans.

Williams critical of Kidd’s actions

Despite obtaining both Anthony Davis and Max Christie in the trade for Doncic it hasn’t exactly started as planned for AD.

While Christie is being praised for his immediate impact by teammate Klay Thompson, Davis left his debut game against the Houston Rockets early through injury.

Former NBA star Danny Green is now concerned about the severity of the injury suggesting it could impact AD’s game long-term.

Davis missed the overtime defeat to the Kings where DeMar DeRozan shone with 42 points, and following the loss Kidd did not speak to the media, something that Williams was critical of.

Speaking on Fan Duel’s Run It Back, he said: “This is a bad look Dallas, it’s a spiral right now from top to bottom. It’s unheard of for your coach not to give their thoughts and comments after the game they’ve just competed in.

“You owe your fanbase statements about the game, especially an overtime thriller you lost by one point. We want some understanding about those things so it’s a bad look from top to bottom.”

Mavericks must move forward

Despite being in a tough situation following a trade which has been taken far from well by the fanbase the Mavericks must now look to the future.

The loss of Luka will be felt in Dallas for some time and Dallas CEO Rick Welts reveals he told Mavericks to re-define the organization by moving on from Mark Cuban.

Moving on from Luka, who was seen as the franchise guy, is certainly a way of ‘re-defining’ the future of the team but now they must stick to their guns.

Avoiding questions, not turning up to pressers and generally seeming at a loss following the trade reaction are not going to help the team to secure a playoff spot, which they are desperately fighting for in the Western Conference with a 28-26 record.

The team still has undoubted quality with the likes of Thompson, Davis, Christie and Kyrie Irving to name just a few. The Mavericks are an extremely deep roster now and if they can start putting in some strong performances they will quickly regain the love of the fans.

It all starts with a bounce back to form when they face a struggling New Orleans Pelicans, who haven’t won any of their last nine games, in back-to-back matches this week.
