Breaking: Chandler Parsons Issues Stern Warning to Mavericks – Don’t Let Your Star Walk

Things are starting to settle in Dallas once again following the controversial trade deal which saw the exit of the face of the franchise, Luka Doncic.

The Mavericks traded Luka to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis and Max Christie, who have had differing starts to their Mavs careers.

Davis is currently out injured after leaving his debut game early, while Christie has shone with his new side and appears to have found his scoring touch.

With Doncic now gone the importance of Kyrie Irving in the Mavericks‘ offense cannot be understated, Chandler Parsons has explained how ‘the keys are his.’

Parsons explains Kyrie has ‘all the leverage’

Since Luka’s exit, the Mavericks are 2-1 and are sitting eighth in the Western Conference, narrowly out of the automatic playoff spots with the Clippers and Timberwolves with one more win

Irving dropped back-to-back 30-point performances after Luka’s exit against both the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors.

The 32-year-old who recently highlighted his interest in playing for Australia in the Olympics, has urged people to have more respect for Luka following his exit.

While Luka’s exit may result in Kyrie having to carry the offense more, Parsons has revealed why that is a good thing for the star on a personal level.

Parsons told Fan Duel’s Run It Back: “You just traded Luka, the keys are his, the offense is his, the franchise is his. He’s eligible for a huge payday but you don’t trade a Luka Doncic for no reason.

“Kyrie has all the leverage, he is their guy going forward, he and Anthony Davis, they made this trade to win right now and to do that they can’t just let Kyrie Irving walk after trading Luka’s so he’s got all the power, he’s going to get a huge deal.”

Irving will need to carry injury injury-stricken Mavericks

With the Western Conference being so tight this late in the season and run of defeats could be the difference between reaching the playoffs and missing out.

The Mavericks are currently plagued by injuries and are going to be without Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively for a while longer.

Jason Kidd has now turned to sign center Moses Brown on a 10-day contract to plug their current struggles.

Despite possessing a pretty deep roster the offense is significantly impacted by the loss of both Davis and Gafford who averaged 25 and 12 points respectively.

Kyrie will no doubt be the key in the Mavericks offense and Klay Thompson will need to stand up and be counted during a tricky time for the side. Missing out on the playoffs after trading Luka would be a nightmare for the franchise with fans already unhappy.
