The disappointing season continued for the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night with a 124-116 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans at home.
The Suns held a one-point lead at halftime, but a 37-point fourth quarter by the Pelicans was too much.
Suddenly, the Suns have lost 10 of the last 12 games, with the two wins in that span coming against the Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls.
The Suns are now 27-32, which has them at 11th in the Western Conference and a couple of games back of the Dallas Mavericks for the final play-in spot.
After the game, Suns guard Devin Booker had a serious message following another upsetting result.
“Skipping over the details and always taking the ‘get ’em next game’ mentality. At some point, you got to draw a line and should’ve been drawn a long time ago,” Booker said, per Duane Rankin.
“Everybody has to be on the same page,” Booker said.
ESPN had the Suns at No. 8 in their predictions with a projected win mark of 42.7, so they have not lived up to those expectations.
Moreover, February is much different than January. In the first month of the 2025 calendar year, the Suns went 10-5 with a pair of three-game winning streaks.
This month, however, the Suns have just two wins, neither of which came against a team with a .500 record.
Booker led the Suns in scoring with 36 points, seven rebounds and nine assists. However, it wasn’t enough, especially with Zion Williamson recording his first-ever triple-double for the Pelicans.
The Suns don’t have time to dwell on it as they face the Pelicans again on Friday before taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets in a difficult stretch.
