Breaking: Dual-Threat Dynamo Coming to Las Vegas: Raiders Ready to Trade Up for Electrifying QB
The Las Vegas Raiders tried their hand at quick fixes at the quarterback position on multiple occasions in recent years, but they have failed miserably in their attempts.
The most recent example came when the Raiders signed Gardner Minshew in free agency in 2024, with the goal of having him compete with Aidan O’Connell for the starting job, which Minshew eventually won.
However, Minshew proved to be a disaster as the starter and was benched on multiple occasions before suffering a season-ending injury. O’Connell has since taken over in between injuries but hasn’t done enough to lock himself in as the long-term starter.
The Raiders should be going back to the drawing board in 2025, and their goal must be to land a young quarterback in the NFL Draft.
Unfortunately, grabbing one of the best ones in next year’s draft is becoming increasingly difficult because Las Vegas hurt its draft position last week by defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars, sending Las Vegas from No. 1 to No. 6, according to Tankathon.
And, the Raiders may hurt it again this week in a matchup against the Derek Carr-less New Orleans Saints, who are set to start Spencer Rattler again. If the Raiders win, they could move down as many as two more spots depending on what happens with the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets.
In a recent mock draft from Pro Football Network’s Dalton Miller, he has the Raiders trading up two spots from their current No. 6 slot to No. 4 with the Tennessee Titans, and Las Vegas takes Miami’s Cam Ward with that pick.
