Breaking: Fans Erupt in Outrage Over Devin Booker’s Court of Gold Snub
While Netflix’s new Court Of Gold series adequately celebrated USA Basketball’s 2024 Paris Olympics campaign, Phoenix Suns fans believe the docuseries lacked one of the team’s most important figures in their run — Devin Booker.
The six-episode series followed the USA, Serbia, France and Canada basketball programs in their quest for gold, each team featuring a few main subjects. Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Bam Adebayo were among the main Americans featured throughout the series.
CantCuardBook, a popular Devin Booker fan page on X (formerly Twitter), was the main voice advocating that the two-time Olympic gold medalist should’ve been more of a staple in the documentary, sending out a post that got nearly 30,000 likes.
Booker was arguably one of the three most impactful players in USA Basketball’s Olympic run. The 28-year-old guard started and averaged 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in all six Olympic games, shooting 13-of-23 (56.5%) from beyond the arc.
What made his production most impactful during the run doesn’t show up on the box score. Booker put his scoring first mentality to the side and became a connective, defensive-minded, all-around force that fit seamlessly around Durant, Curry and LeBron James.
USA Basketball head coach Steve Kerr called Booker the “unsung MVP” for his play throughout the tournament.
