Breaking: Heat Superstar Headed Home? Rockets Show…

The Houston Rockets are showing interest in Texas native and Miami Heat superstar, Jimmy Butler, per Marc Stein. Butler grew up 30 minutes outside of Houston, in Tomball, Texas, and it could be a sort of homecoming for him.

“The Rockets are also increasingly mentioned by monitoring rivals as a team to watch should Miami ever reach a point that it chooses to explore its trade options with Jimmy Butler, who grew up some 30 miles away from Houston in Tomball, Texas.”

Currently, Butler is not doing too great with the Heat, and is a little at odds with the front office. In the past couple games, Butler had three points against the Orlando Magic, and 26 points against the Charlotte Hornets.

If Butler continues this on and off type of production, the Heat may want to move on from the aging star, and build around Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jacquez Jr. and Nikola Jovic.

The Rockets could be a perfect trading partner. They have a bunch of young players who are growing at an exponential rate, but aren’t quite there yet. Butler could provide veteran leadership and proven star power, and the Heat get another young piece to have a true contender in a couple of years.
