It happened again on Sunday. A backup veteran quarterback stepped in for the Cleveland Browns and elevated the offense enough to lead them to a win. It is almost like we have seen the exact same thing happen before.
We have. Jameis Winston did what Joe Flacco did last season for the Browns and that was step in and throw the football all over the field. As a result, the Cleveland Browns were able to end a five-game winning streak that the Baltimore Ravens had going, and a five-game losing streak that they had going themselves.
Cleveland is going to continue to roll with Winston over second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and that is the right choice. The veteran gunslinger gives the Browns the best chance to win.
At 2-6 on the season, it is going to be tough for the Browns to salvage their playoff hopes. But one thing they can count on is Winston at least making things interesting. The turnovers are something that will have to be accepted, but there will be some plays to remember in between too.
