Breaking: Lions’ David Monygomery Sidelined With Injury, Exits Game vs. Colts
Detroit Lions (9-1) running back David Montgomery has exited Sunday’s Week 12 road contest against the Indianapolis Colts (5-6) after suffering a shoulder injury in the third quarter.
Montgomery is questionable to return.
The 27-year-old appeared to injure his shoulder after taking a screen pass 14 yards.
David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs continue to produce for Lions
Montgomery ran for 37 yards on eight carries and a score before leaving the game. He now has 11 rushing touchdowns on the season, trailing only the Baltimore Ravens’ (7-4) Derrick Henry for the league lead among tailbacks (12).
Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs continue to be arguably the NFL‘s best backfield duo, combining for 1,364 yards on the ground entering the game.
“Sonic and Knuckles” are a big part of Detroit’s resurgence over the last two seasons.
“Inside of our room, just really excited. Our guys, ‘Sonic and Knuckles,’ it’s official now, I’ve been warned that that’s what they want to be called,” running backs coach Scottie Montgomery said last month. “Sonic and Knuckles are doing what we ask them to. Certain things we do need to get better at, we’ll continue to work at that, but we’re headed in the right direction.”
