Breaking: Lions Star Coordinator Emerges as Candidate for Bears’ Head Coaching Job
The Detroit Lions have been one of the most dominant teams in football this season, as Dan Campbell’s squad is 11-1 and has won ten straight games after a 1-1 start. The Lions picked up a scrappy 23-20 victory over the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving day in Week 13 and will host the Green Bay Packers in Week 14 at Ford Field.
Though Detroit’s offense is one of the most dynamic units in the league, the team’s defense has been stout in 2024, and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn is the primary reason for the unit’s success. Injuries have ravaged Glenn’s defense, but the group is still one of the elite defenses in the NFL and has a remarkable next-man-up mentality.
A plethora of teams will be interested in Glenn’s services, and USA TODAY’s Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz believes the Chicago Bears could be one of those teams.
The Bears fired Matt Eberflus after nearly three seasons as the franchise’s head coach on Friday. Eberflus posted an abysmal 14-32 record with just three road wins and two divisional victories as Bears’ head coach.
Though Chicago will likely look for an offensive-minded head coach to pair with quarterback Caleb Williams, Glenn would be a savvy hire from the Bears. Eberflus struggled to establish a consistent culture with the Bears, but that shouldn’t be an issue for Glenn, as the 15-year NFL veteran has built a strong relationship with his players and has been an integral part of Dan Campbell’s culture shift in Detroit.
The Bears will have a ton of candidates to choose from, but Aaron Glenn would be a nice hire from Chicago.
