Breaking: Packers Defensive Star Shares Latest of Injury Ahead of Jaguars Game
The Green Bay Packers are 5-2 and right in the middle of a competitive NFL North. The Packers, like every team, have dealt with injuries, but they could be getting a big piece back for their week 8 game.
The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman revealed that defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt said he is expecting to play on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“I should be able to go this Sunday,” Wyatt said, Schneidman revealed on X.
Wyatt was one of the Packers’ two, first-round picks in 2022. He has steadily improved each season and was off to a great start this year. He has not played since week four after suffering an ankle injury. He was practicing today for the first time since his injury.
Wyatt has been a key player alongside Kenny Clark in the middle of the Packers defensive line. He had 5.5 sacks last season. He already had 3.0 this year before his injury.
Having Wyatt back against the Jaguars could be huge. The Jaguars have the tenth most rushing yards in the National Football League so far. The team also averages the fifth most yards per carry in the league with 5.1.
The Packers’ defense is about league average in terms of run defense. Wyatt’s return could give them a boost against a strong rushing attack. Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne highlight the Jaguars rushing attack. However, Etienne could miss the game with a hamstring injury.
