Breaking: Patriots Trade Idea Grabs $51 Million Eagles Super Bowl Champion
If one thing is for certain heading into the 2025-26 season for the New England Patriots, Mike Vrabel will have his defense playing at a high level.
The former Tennessee Titans head coach is known as a defensive-minded guy who understands that defense wins championships in the NFL.
New England have had an excellent offseason, and with the draft approaching, things should only be better for them in the next few weeks.
However, the Patriots still have a few ways to improve their roster, including on the defensive side of the football for their new head coach.
So, how can the Patriots get better on that front?
Logan Ulrich of NFL Trade Rumors proposed a deal for the Patriots to land Bryce Huff of the Philadelphia Eagles. His trade would move a 2025 seventh-round pick, a 2026 seventh-round pick for Huff, and a 2025 fifth-rounder.
“The Patriots could get the added bonus of a solid pass rusher as well in this deal, something the team is in big need of,” Ulrich wrote.
“New HC Mike Vrabel and DC Terrell Williams are shifting the Patriots’ defense for the first time in decades, putting more of a priority on speed and disruption than bulk. Huff wouldn’t have been a great fit before but now there could be a real role for him.”
Huff had a brutal year with the Eagles last season after impressing with the New York Jets in 2023, posting 10 sacks. However, in 2024, he finished with just 2.5 sacks and played in only 12 games.
There are some concerns that he isn’t nearly as good as he proved to be during the 2023 season, considering he’s never posted more than 3.5 sacks in a season outside of that one, but that also demonstrated some potential there.
If the Patriots are willing to take on his contract, he could be a decent buy-low option.
