Breaking: Raiders on the Verge to Land Jets’ Star: Disgruntled Jets Player Linked to Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets may be meeting at the negotiation table once again.
The two teams have already been responsible for a big move this season, when the Raiders traded wide receiver Davante Adams to the Jets for a conditional 2025 third-round pick in October. The Jets planned to pair Adams with quarterback and former teammate Aaron Rodgers to spark their offense and put them back on the road to contention.
The trade did not pan out as the Jets expected; in fact, it may have further damaged the team’s relationship with one of their young stars.
According to Ian Rapoport, wide receiver Garrett Wilson‘s future with the Jets is in serious question, and a large part of it has to do with the rift growing between him and Rodgers.
“Privately, there have been questions regarding whether Rodgers and Wilson can find common ground since they had a blowup during training camp,” wrote Rapoport.
“While Wilson will not publicly say it, those who know him well believe he’s been frustrated at the lack of looks from Rodgers while wondering what else he can do to fix the relationship.”
Rodgers is not guaranteed to remain with the Jets past this season, but the team may have to decide between him or Wilson if the situation between the two worsens.
“The Raiders need to find an elite young talent to serve as a foundational piece of their receiving corps, a role Wilson would be perfectly suited to fill,” wrote Kay. “At just 24 years of age, he has plenty of good years ahead of him and could be around for the long haul alongside breakout rookie Brock Bowers.”
The cost of acquiring and re-signing Wilson is likely to be severe. Wilson is expected to earn a contract of approximately $24 million per year, and any trade packages will be expected to be more than the Day 2 picks and quality veterans that the San Francisco 49ers received in offers for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk this past offseason.
The Raiders have no shortage of options when it comes to improving their receiving corps in 2025. Wilson would definitely be the costliest one of the bunch, but only because he is the best one available.
