Breaking Stephen.A.Smith Drops Bombshell About Draymond Green’s Championship Promise
Draymond Green’s championship prediction for the Warriors has impressed Stephen A. Smith, but they have to answer some big questions.
Draymond Green has always been a proud member of the Golden State Warriors. As a key piece of their dynasty, Green regularly backs his team to find success.
Most recently, Green proclaimed during the NBA All-Star game coverage that the Warriors would win the NBA championship now that Jimmy Butler is on the team.
Stephen Curry echoed Green’s sentiments, as he and the Warriors love embracing the pressure. But it is a bold statement nonetheless. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was also impressed with Green’s comments but wanted to see if the Warriors could back it up.
One notable is a big fan of the former DPOY’s declaration. However, he does warn that the road ahead is filled with concerns.
Stephen A. Smith applauds Draymond Green
Reacting to Draymond Green’s comments on First Take, Stephen A. Smith lauded the former All-Star for his mentality. He thinks this is exactly how they should be feeling.
Smith noted how strong the Warriors are with Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler on the same team. Furthermore, Green’s ability to orchestrate the team has proven valuable in Jimmy’s first four games.
“I love it because now he’s got to go out there and back it up. It’s made the latter part of this NBA season that much more compelling. You have the greatest shooter on god’s green earth who is still a superstar in this league playing for the Golden State Warriors…”
“We know what Stephen Curry is, we know what he brings to the table. Jimmy Butler brings a different dimension. I can respect where Draymond is coming from. You have a guy that is totally different from Steph Curry. But it has complemented them thus far…”
Stephen Curry adds that Jimmy Butler’s ability to be aggressive is a big boost to Stephen Curry, and he is an upgrade over Andrew Wiggins.
SAS doubts Warriors can topple West’s best
In the same segment, Smith continued that Butler’s presence will elevate Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. However, against the best teams in the West, he doubts the Warriors have what it takes.
He added that Draymond’s words could make two proud players like Curry and Butler go out on a nightly basis and prove their teammate right, which is why he loved the championship prediction.
“If you have a guy like Jimmy Butler, who not only can score but can get to the free-throw line, buying you rest, that also galvanizes you. Ultimately, it elevates your energy. Do I believe they will beat OKC or Denver? No.”
“But I do love the fact that Dray has said what he said and put Golden State in that position. Because… they will go out there and do everything they can to go out there and back up Draymond’s words… I don’t think it’s true, but I love the fact that he said it.
It was certainly a bold prediction from Draymond. But Smith is right in that his teammates could be there to back him.
Butler recently revealed how positive and welcoming Green has been to him on the Warriors. And the former All-Star could pay that kindness back by helping prove Draymond right.
