Bulls Looking to Deal Lonzo Ball: Could a Trade to the Thunder Be on the Horizon

While the Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the best teams in the NBA this season, they could still be a team to watch before the trade deadline in February.

Oklahoma City currently sits at the top of the Western Conference with a 20-5 record. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has led the way, putting up MVP-like numbers this season. Jalen Williams has also continued to improve and has played a key role on both ends of the court at various positions as Chet Holmgren remains out.

The Thunder have a ton of assets that include multiple young players and a boatload of draft capital. Because of this, Oklahoma City can make a move for another star player, but they could look to add more role players.

One player who is expected to be moved before the deadline is Chicago Bulls’ point guard, Lonzo Ball. According to the Chicago Sun Times’ Joe Cowley, the Bulls are aggressively shopping Ball this season.

The Thunder could be a team that could take a chance on Ball. He missed the last two seasons while recovering from a knee injury but has played well since returning to the court this season. Despite this, Ball has dealt with injuries again this season, so if Oklahoma City were to trade for him, it would not come without risk.

In a possible trade, the Thunder could send Aaron Wiggins and Ousmane Dieng to Chicago for Ball. This trade works well as the Bulls would add two more young players to build around while the Thunder would add another piece to their guard depth.
