Christian Gonzalez’s Breakout Game: Shutting Down…
The New England Patriots had a lot of questions to answer this week, and they responded with a win against their hated division rival, the New York Jets. The 25-22 victory did not only put an end to the NFL’s longest active losing streak, it also prevented the first Jets season sweep in 25 years, and ended a seven-game home losing streak at Gillette Stadium.

Christian Gonzalez erases Davante Adams
The Jets traded for superstar receiver Davante Adams to try to get them out of their funk, but it did not matter on Sunday. That’s because Christian Gonzalez was on the other side.
The second-year cornerback stifled Adams the entire game, who finished the game with only four catches for 54 yards. His longest catch of the afternoon came on the last play of the game, where the Patriots were allowing passes over the middle on purpose; one of his other catches was in a zone coverage against Marte Mapu.
In fact, Gonzalez was credited with pitching a shutout against Adams: zero catches on four targets when he was in coverage, with one pass breakup on a crucial red zone third down.
“I mean, we won. We won. We won,” Gonzalez said after the game when asked about his performance against Adams.
“You always want to win, that’s what this profession is about, winning. Started out not good but got the win today. It’s a win, but we’ve got to string them together. So, we’ve got to enjoy this one tonight and turn the page and be ready for next week.”
