Da Bears Just Got a Boost: Top 2025 Draft Prospect Shows Interest in Joining Chicago
The Chicago Bears have a critical offseason ahead of them going into the first year under new head coach Ben Johnson.
The needs are clear on the team. Chicago’s front office needs to address both trenches in some capacity, through free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft.
How they address those two glaring needs will determine how the rest of the offseason unfolds in regards to adding other top talent to the roster, but attacking the offensive and defensive line has to be the priority.
Saying the Bears fill both needs in free agency (and they will have plenty of players to choose from on the market), things will open up and get interesting for the front office with the 10th overall pick in the first round of April’s draft.
And one top prospect is already putting his name in the running.
Boise State running back and Heisman finalist Ashton Jeanty seemed to hint about the possibility of joining the Bears with the team’s first round selection.
“Those Chicago Bears sitting pretty nice at 10. I think that might be a nice destination as well,” Jeanty said via the NFL on NBC set at Radio Row.
Considering Jeanty with the 10th overall pick gives the Bears’ front office an interesting avenue to consider. We all know how much Ben Johnson likes having a two-back offense and Jeanty’s talent level is unbelievable.
We’re talking about a guy who led the country with 2,595 rushing yards and averaged 6.9 yards per carry during the 2024 season.
If the Bears were to follow through with this possibility, Jeanty would be the first running back since Falcons’ Bijan Robinson to be selected in the Top-10. That same draft, the Lions’ selected Jahmyr Gibbs 12th overall while Johnson was the offensive coordinator in Detroit.
So, it’s not entirely far-fetched, saying the Bears can address their other glaring needs prior to April’s draft and Jeanty has already been hitting things off with quarterback Caleb Williams as well.
Pairing Jeanty with D’Andre Swift in the backfield for the next few years would give Johnson and the Bears a frightful combination to defend against. But again, priority #1 has to be fixing the offensive line and adding more pieces to the defensive front first.
