Arsenal eye move to sign £325,000-a-week forward for free after summer transfer failed
Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar is readying plans for the transfer windows in 2025.
The Brazilian did a fantastic job this summer, signing David Raya, Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino, Neto and Raheem Sterling. He also sorted deals for the departures of Aaron Ramsdale, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah among others.
On Thursday, Mikel Arteta’s new Arsenal contract was announced, and reports have since claimed that Edu is pushing to extend Gabriel Magalhaes’ deal as well.
To add to the above, the Arsenal director is keeping an eye on the next two transfer windows, and one of his plans has now been revealed by GiveMeSport.
Arsenal eye move to sign Leroy Sane for free
Leroy Sane was heavily linked with a move away from Bayern Munich in the summer.
The former Manchester City man is a terrific footballer. He’s quick, a brilliant dribbler, can play anywhere across the frontline and has previous experience in the Premier League.
That’s probably why Arsenal wanted to sign Sane in the summer, but no move materialised then. That could change in 2025.
GMS reveal that Arsenal and Newcastle United are both plotting a move to sign the Germany international next summer, when he will be available on a free transfer.
Sane is expected to hold talks with Bayern over a new deal, but the German giants want him to reduce his £325,000-a-week salary.
Arsenal are said to be hoping that Bayern and Sane won’t come to an agreement so that they can get him for nothing in the summer of 2025.
Arteta helped Sane a lot during their time at Manchester City. That relationship could get this deal over the line next year.
The real reason why Arsenal couldn’t sign Leroy Sane in the summer
Throughout the summer, there was a rumour going around social media that Arsenal were interested in a mystery German player.
Team News and Ticks finally revealed that Sane was the one and that Arsenal actually held talks with the attacker over a move to the Emirates.
However, no move materialised because Bayern failed to sign two of their top targets – Desire Doue and Xavi Simons.
He said on his Patreon: “So again, I get loads of stick for this. It was said that we might be signing a certain international, and then I was told it had legs and we are chasing a German international. Not that it’s definitely going to happen.
“I later found out it was Sane and we were talking to him, but we couldn’t agree a deal with Bayern because they missed out on two key targets, Xavi Simons and Doue. They wanted both, but they got neither. It shows at the end of the window, they didn’t even get Coman out.”
