Exclusive: Hidden Gem QB Prospect Reveals Desire to Join Raiders, Reunite with Former Teammates
It’s no secret the Las Vegas Raiders need a quarterback. And, as John Spytek and Pete Carroll, the new general manager and head coach, addressed during their introductory press conference, they will keep taking shots at quarterbacks until one sticks. Spytek referenced when the Seattle Seahawks, Carroll’s old team, took a shot at Russell Wilson in the third round of the draft.
Now, Wilson is a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, has finished seasons as an MVP finalist, and has had one heck of a career. But, they also mentioned going through free agency if they have to, and that could look like signing a guy like Sam Darnold, who just had a stellar season for the Minnesota Vikings.
As things currently stand, we just have no idea what they are going to do regarding the quarterback position. But, what we do know is that the Raiders will have a tough time getting Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward at pick No. 6 if they were to stay put there and not trade up. However, one guy they could probably get at No. 6, or even if they traded back, is Jaxson Dart, the Ole Miss QB.
And, he would love to be the Raiders QB.
“Yeah, I would love that,” Dart said at the Senior Bowl media availability to Vinny Bonsignore. “That’s (Jackson Powers-Johnson, Raiders center) my boy. Obviously, people know us as high school teammates. He was my center. He’s such a hell of a talent. Every year I would try to get him out of Oregon and have him come and play with me (Ole Miss). But, no it would be amazing, and with it also being close to home (Utah), it would be a great opportunity.”
Dart is one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft. He is kind of like how Bo Nix was last year before the Denver Broncos ended up taking him — a guy who was originally projected as a day-two quarterback but could quickly find himself in the top 15 of the NFL Draft. From everything we are hearing about GMs being enamored by him, that could definitely happen.
He would certainly be a quarterback that a guy like Pete Carroll would be happy drafting. Dart has some of the best pure arm talent in the entire draft, but his inability to show up at the end of some of Ole Miss’ biggest games this last season is alarming. He does have a tendency to make costly errors, and not necessarily turn the ball over, but just get too giddy in the pocket and throw a bad pass, make the wrong read, etc.
That’s not to say he can’t be a great NFL quarterback, because I think he can, in the right hands. He would be a great fit for what the Raiders are looking for, and he and Aidan O’Connell could battle for the starting position the first year, and the Raiders see how it goes from there.
