Green Bay’s Big Trade: Packers Set to Move Star Defender in Pursuit of New Gem to Bring Championship

The 2025 NFL offseason is close to heating up and the Green Bay Packers are going to be a very interesting team to watch.

Over the last couple of years, the Packers have been a legitimate playoff contender in the NFC. However, they have not reached the point of being a legitimate Super Bowl contender just yet.

Heading into the offseason, Green Bay will have some cap space to spend. They also have some decisions to make about players already on the roster.

One of their biggest decisions will be about the future of star cornerback Jaire Alexander. Due to his inability to stay healthy and on the field, the Packers have found themselves in some difficult decisions at the cornerback position. This offseason could be time for change.

Alexander has been viewed as a potential offseason trade candidate by many. Now, a new prediction has come out that involves Alexander being moved.

Andrew Buller-Russ of SportsNaut has made a bold prediction for each team in the NFL. When it came to the Jacksonville Jaguars, he predicted that they would acquire Alexander from Green Bay.

“The Jaguars need to find multiple secondary upgrades this offseason. Drafting a rookie or two could help, but they’ll still need a highly capable veteran to help show the newcomers the ropes,” Buller-Russ wrote. “Meanwhile, the Jaguars recently hired former Packers linebackers coach/run game coordinator Anthony Campanile, who may be able to put in a good word for Jaire Alexander’s character and work ethic.”

Moving on from Alexander would be a tough choice to make for the Packers. He is one of the best cornerbacks in the league when he’s healthy.

During the 2024 season, the 28-year-old cornerback ended up playing in just seven games. He racked up 16 tackles, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes.
