New York Knicks’ Legend Safe for One More Season James Harden is Lurking..

Carmelo Anthony spent parts of seven seasons with the New York Knicks, and while he was never able to find much postseason success, his scoring prowess made him a fan-favorite in the Big Apple. In all of his full seasons with the Knicks, he made the All-Star game and is seventh all-time in Knicks franchise points. He also played for the Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers. He never won a title, but he was able to amass 28,289 career points, good for tenth all-time in the NBA. However, James Harden is closing in and will likely knock Anthony out of the top ten sooner rather than later. Harden, who is in the midst of his 11th All-Star season, is sitting at 27,416 points, 873 fewer than Anthony. At his current pace this season of 22.5 points per game, he will need roughly 39 games to pass Melo’s number. With 11 games left for the Los Angeles Clippers in the regular season, Harden would have to average 79.4 points to break Melo’s record this season, which will not happen.

However, next season Harden will enter the top ten, knocking Anthony out. Once that happens, no one who has ever played for the Knicks will be in the top ten. In a way, it’s fitting that Harden will be the one to replace Anthony. Neither are known as playoff heroes, both are known for a lack of defensive effort and are, by definition, pure scorers. As Harden nears the top ten next season, expect the league to promote the milestone with some fanfare.
